“Music is not what I do, it is who I am. My songs may be contemporary but they are over 40,000 years old. They come through me from my ancestors and my people and they tell our stories,” Kutcha Edwards
Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta, Nari Nari Songman Kutcha Edwards has been prolifically combining songwriting and activism since he began making music in the 90’s. As one of Australia’s most respected Indigenous singer/songwriters, Kutcha’s music and community work has earned him iconic status amongst both Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians. What Kutcha shares through his songs and stories and with the people he encounters is an often unheard truth, a heartfelt connection and a sense of belonging.
Supporting Kutcha on the night is Peninsula-based band Jalgany.
Jalgany is a Victorian-based band fronted by Kirrae-wurrung/Bundjalung artist Nola Lauch, whose music powerfully explores identity, resilience, and connection to Country. Rooted in soul and storytelling, their sound is both emotionally raw and rhythmically rich. Acclaimed for their live performances and national airplay, Jalgany continues to evolve with a new album that deepens their bold creative vision.

About the Facilitators
Jillian West brings over 20 years of experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through employment, education, and community development. A respected cultural educator, Jillian continues the legacy of her father, the late Japanangka Errol West, a renowned Aboriginal academic and “education warrior.”
Alexandra Prouse works alongside her Aunty Jillian, continuing her family’s commitment to cultural learning and sharing. Together, they create an engaging, warm, and insightful learning environment.
